Heading into the 2011 Wisconsin Bow Season the BMGOutdoors Crew had high expectations. Food Plots were done, tree stands were hung, trail camera pictures were in and the bows were tuned. Despite all of this some hunters were more successful than others but everyone hung in there and hunted hard. In SS.1 we will run through the season of crew members Greg Haak, Pat Raab and Mark Mitchell. Stay tune for SS.2 next week featuring the rest of the crew! A major reason these bucks were able to grow this large is due to constant monitoring and management of the buck to doe ratio. Webisode Eleven: Doe Quest is a highlight reel of some of the does the crew was able to capture on film throughout the archery, rifle and muzzleloader seasons. Enjoy some quality swamp donkey slaying! This webisode, Team Member Mark Mitchell shows you the importance of staying on top of the fresh sign in your area. Take a quick lesson on how speed scouting can help you capitalize on that giant you've been after! Fall turkey hunting doesn't get as much hype as the spring season, but we like to get tags in case we get an opportunity while bow hunting. A couple weeks back Brandon and Greg went to move one of Greg's stands, so Greg took his bow because he's seen turkeys there on a regular basis. As they walked towards the woods and rounded the corner of the corn field they spotted a hen sunning her self on the edge of the woods. With the corn still standing they decided to hide in the corn and make a stalk. Here's how it played out! Our food plots are prepped, stands are hung, trail camera inventory has been taken. Our gear is ready, our properties are ready, BMGOutdoors is ready. Each year archery season seems to take its sweet time getting here. Two hundred and fifty one days have past since the 2010 season ended and finally the 2011 season is upon us. Opening weekend the team was out in full force around the state, each with varying degrees of success. Some team members got skunked while others saw and passed small bucks, does, and fawns. Everyone was hoping that one of the big mature deer on our hit-list would show itself. Unfortunately that was not the case. This week’s Webisode begins with Team Member Jason Lisowe in the stand and Mark Mitchell working the camera. Watch how the morning unfolds as they put the first deer on the ground for the BMGOutdoors Team. With the 2011 Wisconsin Archery season less then a week away, the BMGOutdoors Team has decided to share with you our most up to date "Hit List". These are the deer that the BMGOutdoors Team Members will be chasing over the next few months. The exciting thing is that we know there are bucks bigger than this out there, and yes we have proof! Be sure to check back with us throughout the season and follow along as we hit a few bucks from our list. Enjoy. Webisode Seven: The Hit List from BMGOutdoors on Vimeo. With Wisconsin’s Early Goose Season right around the corner, the past week the BMGOutdoors Team has been hitting the country roads searching hi and low for these crafty avian critters. Just when we thought we had them figured out they’d change fields and the process of gaining permission starts from scratch. Unlike deer and turkeys, geese aren’t going to be on the same property from day to day; it takes a lot of work to get on the field that these early season honkers find appealing. Follow along our journey of “Chasing Honkers” during this webisode. Most hunters spend the summer months preparing their food plots, improving their land and improving their marksmanship for the long grueling season. What about preparing your body? Hunting despite what some may think, is a grueling hobby. I’m willing to bet a lot of people can’t walk a mile through a mucky marsh in waders hulling two dozen duck decoys, shells, and a shotgun! My Team Members and I are fairly fit individuals, having run cross country and track at the collegiate level, and there are days in the field when we find ourselves hunched over, hands on our knees, with the old ticker pumping! Here are some exercises we do to make sure we are ready for the season. I’ll keep them simple; things you can do with little or no equipment. In this webisode BMGOutdoors Team Members Mark Mitchell and Jason Lisowe give you so tips on how you can prepare yourself when it's crunch time. Where we hunt we don't have Pope and Young deer behind every tree however we do have some nice deer on trail-camera this summer. When we get that one opportunity at that giant, we want to make it count. Follow us on our journey. With the summer months winding down and archery season right around the corner, the boys at BMGOutdoors have been working on their form doing some bow-fishing. This action packed webisode shows, Pat Raab and Greg Haak's, unique attempt at reducing the carp population in Wisconsin Waters, giving you insightful tips along with plenty of comical situations. We hope you enjoy. Be sure to check back every Wednesday for our new webisode! |
